Episode 67

Zithulele and I have been all over each other since early this morning. Yep, this is what your life becomes when you become parents. You have to have sex when the kids are sleeping or behind their backs. You move from fearing your parents busting your ass in the air to fearing your children busting your ass in the air.
It took us forever to get both kids out of our bed and out of our room. But they are finally out and daddy and I are just enjoying each other this morning.
“You are so beautiful, Mam’Khuzwayo.” He says as he lies on top of me, staring into my eyes.
“I love you so much. I never knew it was possible to love someone as much as I love you”. I sincerely say.
He rides me again, kissing me and handling me so sensually.

“Should we try for another child? A girl this time?” He says to me. He must be high.
“Absolutely not.” I say.
He laughs.
“Don’t you want to have a mini you running around here?”
I shake my head.
He laughs.
“We should have named Mnqobi ‘Baphelele’ because we are not having anymore children. Baphelele.”
He laughs aloud. I chuckle.
“Why?” He asks mid-laughter.
“It’s not happening, Zithulele. We have enough kids.” I say.
He is in stitches and laughing so hard. It’s so beautiful to watch him laugh so freely. He has always been a hunk and a half and he still wears his diamond studs. I don’t understand his love for them, but I just let him be. They make him look like a fuck boy, but I’m comforted in knowing that we have too many bullets to dodge and law enforcement we continuously run from for him to think about cheating.

“Mommy!” We hear the voices of our sons say as they bang on our door.
Zithulele is so defeated.
“We are busy, Mnqobi.” Zithulele says.
“I want mommy!” Mnqobi the hard head aggressively says.
“I said we are busy! Banathi, take your brother and go keep yourselves busy. Siyeza!” Zithulele.
“What are you guys doing? We will be quiet and we won’t disturb you.” Banathi says.
I can’t help it. I just laugh. Zithulele is annoyed. He even climbs off me now. Ja, our morning of sex is definitely over now.
“That time you want another one”, I say to him.
He shakes his head. I just laugh at him.
“Mommy!” Yerrr, uMnqobi.
“Mnqobi, I’m coming! Can you at least give me a few minutes?!” I say.
He starts crying.
Zithulele and I just get out of bed. We find clothes to get dressed in because we slept naked. Then, while I do the bed, Zithulele unlocks the door and looks at my two kids.
“Yini inkinga yenu?” Zithulele asks them.
“We want you and mommy.” Mnqobi says as he pushes Zithulele out the way and comes into the bedroom.
“What do you want from us?” Zithulele.
No response.
Mnqobi is now lifting his arms at me, wanting me to pick him up.
I pick him up.
Banathi demands for his father to pick him up and now it’s just…
“The two of you better understand that this is my wife.” Zithulele.
“But she’s our mom”, Banathi says.
“But she’s my wife first. If it wasn’t for me marrying her, we wouldn’t be your parents.”
“Did you make us together?” Banathi.
“Don’t even think about answering that”, I say.
Zithulele laughs.
“Baba, when are you taking us to get earrings like you?” Mnqobi.
“You want earrings now?” I ask. I mean really?
“We will go, boy. During your school holidays. Your school would never allow you to have them now.”
This was never discussed with me. I just thought I’d let you know.

We are all bathed and are about to have breakfast together. The boys are following their father around and that’s their way of giving me my space to just get stuff done. I think they also do this because he’s always so busy. So, we all love it when he is home and is actually doing things with us. He always says he wishes he could work less because he loves how we love him. But, he does what he needs to do.

I hear him talk to someone. He tells this person that he’s opening for him. We have to open for people and let them into the estate using an app now. We control everything on this app, so it’s easy to trace and keep record of any and all activity in the estate.
“I didn’t know we were expecting anyone for breakfast?” I say to him.
He looks at me and seemingly doesn’t know what to say.
I just know that it’s work. Great, he’s leaving us now.
“Can you at least have breakfast with us before you leave for work?” I say.
He walks up to me and says, “I’m having breakfast with you guys. Don’t worry.”
Then he kisses me .

I never!
Atisang.
Reitumetsi.
Suzi.
And a kid who is about Mnqobi’s age.
What?!
I’m so shocked. I want to –
But I –
And then they –
I just break down and cry.
It is Reitumetsi who hugs me. I just fall apart. Honestly. I never thought I’d ever see them again.
Atisang also hugs me.
“Baba, who are these people? And why is mommy crying?” I hear Banathi whisper.
“These are your uncles and aunt, bafana. And this over here is your cousin.” Zithulele.
I finally gather myself.
“Hey”, Suzy says as she waves at me. I just go to her and hug her.
“You look so beautiful. How are you, ausi waka?”
We just cry and have a moment.
“Have you met your nephew? This is mine and Tumi’s. His name is Selaelo.” She says.
“Hello papa. Dumela”, I say as I carry him in my arms. He seems shy. But he looks just like Tumi and Atisang.
My brothers are thanking Zithulele for everything. What exactly is everything? This man and his wonders.

The house is full and it’s warm. I’m so happy. I’m so emotional. This still feels unreal to me. We have assigned them bedrooms in the house. Then I go to my bedroom to gather myself. I’m so emotional.
“Are you okay?” Zithulele asks me as he comes into the bedroom.
“No, I’m not.” I say. I just cry.
He hugs me.
“Thank you”, I say as I cry in his arms.
He holds me tighter.
“Thank you. Whatever you did. Thank you.” I keep saying.
He just hugs me and keeps kissing the top of my head.

I’m finally calming down now.
“I was thinking we could go on holiday. A family holiday. We will invite Nothile and Zama as well.” He says.
I look at him and smile. Then I ask him, “When did you become such a family man?”
“When I met you.” He says.
I look at him.
“When I met you, Letlali Khuzwayo, I met my better half. I met my partner in everything. I met my most intimate prayers. With you, I become everything that I’ve ever wanted to be as a man. I’d rather have nothing and have just you in life, then to have everything and not have you.”
I start undressing myself.
He smiles at me.
You know the rest.

Suzi and I are washing dishes and catching up. We had so much fun preparing dinner and our dinner was just perfect. Mnqobi, Banathi and Selaelo are best friends and they are definitely keeping their fathers busy.

“Where have you guys been?” I ask her.
“Zithulele got us a house in Umhlanga. He made sure we were okay the whole time, Tlali. Your man ke monna!”
I appreciate my husband so much guys.
“You know he’s also looking after papa, right?” She says to me.
I’m not surprised, but I wish he wasn’t.
“And apparently, papa is getting married. The wife is a nice mama with her own kids as well. They are just adults living their lives. They live in a very nice township big corner house in Taung. Apparently, he didn’t want a house in the suburbs. So, Zithulele got him that house.”
I honestly don’t know what to say.
“Selaelo is such a cutie pie. I’m a whole rakgadi. Congratulations.” I say instead.
“He is such a handful, yoh. But Tumi is happy. So I’m happy. Even Ati has a man.”
We start laughing.
“It’s serious wena. They are even talking about adopting a child.”
“Bathung!”
We laugh.
“I’m so happy, Suzy. I’m so happy that you guys are back and that we are all great. I’m happy our kids will grow up together. Mama would be so happy.”
We immediately just become so sad.
“Maybe, we can do a tombstone unveiling for her. We will give her the proper burial with this.” I say.
She nods her head and says, “Trust me, you all need it. I completely support it.”

We chat some more until the dishes are done. I pour us some wine and we just chat and catch up while drinking. She tells me that Tumi and Atisang have a business now. It’s a mechanic business and it’s doing really well.
She is in the process of opening her own law firm as well. She and Tumi are in the process of taking Kefentse’s and Tumi’s child to live with them. It’s a process, but Suzy is trying in the situation and she would appreciate her props for that.

“It’s time for you guys to go to sleep”, I tell the boys and they are not impressed.
“Mama, Selaelo sleeps in the same bed as Rakgadi and Malome Tumi.” Mnqobi my chancer says.
“Mnqobi, you are not sleeping with us.” Zithulele.
“Why, baba?” Mnqobi.
“Because you and Banathi sleep alone. And when you get older, each of you will sleep in your own room.” Zithulele.
“Papa, can I sleep with Banathi and Mnqobi?” Selaelo.
“It’s fine.” Tumi just says. He’s not interested in anything else.
Atisang is just laughing at these interactions.

It’s another thirty minutes to get the boys settled and ready for bed. It’s light out for everyone by 11pm.
